Mihails Pupinsh was born on 26.05.1962 in Daugavpils city, Latvia.

By that time Latvia was a part of the Soviet Union. In 1983 the teaching of karate in the Soviet Union was prohibited by the existing legislative system, the possible punishments for breaking this rule were arrests, trial, confiscation of property and imprisonment. Some of the karate-practicing individuals were arrested.

On 04.03.1983 Mihails Pupinsh entered the underground school of taekwondo karate in the city of Daugavpils, Latvia to be trained by his First Principal Teacher, the Master Vasilij Chernigov (having the 6th Dan of WKA at present, being the representative of WAKO in Latvia and Eastern Europe).

In this school there was taught the Kempo style of Sane Karate, which was oriented at the real combat and was made up of Shotokan Karate, Korean combat styles and the elements of Kobujutsu and Combat Sambo and Jujitsu (the founder of Sane Karate was Aleksej Shturmin, Moscow, 10th Dan at present).

The trainings of this underground group they were arranged in the facilities that were not adjusted to such kinds of activities, frequently being held out secretly in the forest as it was in the ancient times in Okinawa. In the course of the lessons there were several occasions when the group members had to escape from the soviet police Militia dragnets.

In 1983 Mihails Pupinsh worked in the out-of-staff defense team sponsored by the Ministry of Internal Affairs where he was busting the criminals by organizing night ambushes. He personally arrested two criminals, one of them being neutralized in the hand-to-hand fighting.

In 1984-1985 Mihails Pupinsh was having a compulsory military service in the Special Forces Osoboye Naznacheniye of Head Investigation Service “Glavnoye Razvedyvatelnoye Upravlenie” "GRU" of the Soviet army being a member of the frontier radio reconnaissance squad #11143 (Riga, Latvia).

This squad was constantly performing a combat scouting. In the course of his military service Mihails acquired army training courses of the radio reconnaissance specialist, then he graduated from the sergeants’ school where he was granted the rank of the junior sergeant.

For the fulfillment of his military training and military tasks he obtained the rank of sergeant, later – senior sergeant. His military service ended he was left with the rank of lieutenant.

In the course of his military service he was underground trained Shito Ryu Kempo Karate and Kobujutsu by the Master Alexander Stepanov (“Stavr”, Russia, Kaliningrad). He was also trained Shotokan Kempo Karate and Kung Fu by the Master Jurij Taranov (Ukraine).

In the years 1986-1987 Mihails Pupinsh was trained in the underground school run by the Master Alexander Astankov (having the 5th Dan of Taekwondo WTF, 4th Dan of Hapkido IHF at present). In 1987-1988 he was trained Combat Karate and Kung Fu by the Master Vladimir Mihailov.

Starting with 1986 he is practicing and consulting about Street Fighting by the Master Sergey Vresch (having 3rd Dan of Kempo Karate, 1st Dan of Combat Jujitsu and being director of security service at present). In 1991-1992 he was trained Shotokan Karate by the Master Andrey Komar (having the 6th Dan of Shotokan FSKA at present), took part in the seminars led by the Master Romualdas Montvidas (President of Lithuanian JKA).

Beginning with the year 1985 up to the present time Mihails Pupinsh is practicing Combat Kempo Karate, Combat Jujitsu, Weapons under the supervision of his Second Principal Teacher Valerijs Zaharovs (the founder of Combat Kempo Karate Jitsu and Police Security Combat System, 7th Dan Kempo Karate IMAF, 2nd Dan Kickboxing WKA, 3rd Dan WAKO, international coach and refery in kickboxing WKA, WAKO, Unifight, national refery in boxing, former Bank security instructor etc.).

Mihails Pupinsh was reattested for the Black Belts and recertified (years 1999-2001) under the supervision of Grandmaster Valerijs Zaharovs.

After 2001 Mihails Pupinsh was attested /examined /reattested under international organizations and Masters.

Beginning with 1982 Mihails Pupinsh runs a small traditionally underground non-commercial Eco Do Dojo. He is the founder of the system known as Eco Do Combat Kempo Karate (Combat Kempo Karate Ecological Way).

Mihails Pupinsh has government accredited degrees of Doctor of Psychology (University of Latvia), Doctor of Pedagogy (Daugavpils Pedagogical University, Latvia), Master of Biology (Daugavpils Pedagogical University, Latvia), Doctor of Biology (Daugavpils University, Latvia), Master of Psychology (Daugavpils Pedagogical University, Latvia). He has honorary degree PhD MA.

Mihails Pupinsh taught the basics of victimity to pedagogues, students, Doctor and Master program learners in an University for many years. He also works as psychologist and professional self-actualization training supervisor. He is the ecologist and herpetologist, the specialist in keeping of reptiles and amphibians in zooculture.

Mihails Pupinsh is a representative of some international martial arts organizations in Latvia.

He considers that martial arts must be really applied in the combat and that all of them are united. That’s why in 2002 he founded a non-commercial International Combat Martial Arts Unions Association, which is aimed at the support of all combat-oriented martial artists.
