Dear Sir/Madam, Because of the
increased participation and the short period of time that has left and to
avoid injustice of some trainers who, through several email expressed their
inability to create and upload their video we decided to simplify the
procedure of participation. The ways that you can
participate are the following: 1. With biography and personal informations,
either in text form or by link to your personal website and websites that
refer to you. 2. With link to your videos from websites (YouTube, Vimeo etc). 3. By creating a new video and upload it to our website
(10’max). Evaluation: The results
announcement will take place in a special ceremony in Athens at 28th May
2013. Those among trainers
interested to attend the ceremony and receive an award for participation
regardless of the position held, may contact us for further information via
email:pr@worldtrainersassociation.com. Last but not least, all trainers

Dear friends, as you know
from 6th to 9th of next June in Slovenia-Portorož
will be held the 1st I.K.U. World Championship for Seniors and Veterans. It’s open to the participation of all the
associations and federations of each country (with the exception of countries
where there is an official federation recognized by IKU). For this event and our association we are receiving
interest from all continents. It’s a great pleasure for us to invite you, and if
you are interested in participating, please request an invitation to the IKU
General Secretary (general secretary@internationalkarateunion.org). Entries for the competition can be made from now. We have also the pleasure to inform you that the
event is supported by the City of Portorož and it’s
Mayor, and that will be transmitted by the Slovenian Television. There are good prospects for a big event, in the

the 11th Annual International Martial Arts Seminar, to be held on the 15th
and 16th of September at the Thetford Dojo, Breckland
Leisure Centre, Croxton Road, Thetford, Norfolk
IP24 1JD. This years “Shochu
Geiko” (Summer Training Camp) will be conducted
over two days and is open to all adult martial artists, irrespective of
style. We have instructors teaching in a variety of martial arts from
England, Portugal, Norway, Spain, Croatia, Switzerland and Germany. The cost to attend this year’s
seminar is £70.00 prepaid or £80.00 on the door, which includes two full days
of training, a quality full colour end of seminar
attendance certificate, an executive buffet and party to include a disco and
karaoke on the Saturday evening. Additional tickets for friends and family to
the evening meal and party are available at a cost of £10 per person. A limited edition “Eleventh
International Martial Arts Seminar” t-shirt is being produced for the event.

situation where you're legally justified
to use self defense, when your life is truely
in danger, you
need every advantage you can get. You're likely to be facing
an armed attacker, multiple attackers, or at least one who is bigger and
stronger than you. It's unlikely
that you'll be attacked by a single individual who is smaller than you and
has no weapon. Weapons can provide you with a tremendous
advantage if you know how to use them. Even if you choose not to carry one,
there are many everyday objects that can be used as a weapon. Additionally, learning how to use
weapons will increase your skill in defending against them. Details below: Arnis or Escrima: Training covers empty-hand self-defense (striking,
locking, throwing, etc.) as well as the trademark single and double sticks
techniques of the Filipino martial arts. Handkerchief or Panyo: Training covers empty-hand self-defense (striking,
& locking) techniques in street defense. Umbrella or Payong: Many
of the tactics to use an umbrella for self-defense are the same as those used
with a cane or stick. Yawara: The yawara
stick, and its cousin the kubotan, are short sticks
carried in one hand and used for self defense. They are legal to carry in and
in most other countries. Even if not legal, they are easy enough to improvise
that knowing how to use one is a good investment of your training time. These
techniques will work with a yawara, kubotan, small flashlight, even a pencil or pen. Nunchaku: Basic introduction to
foundational skills that you can practice with the Nunchaku
for self-defense. Jo or Bo: The
Jo or Bo is a marvelous weapon and can be of practical use in self defense.
It is hoped that this will create an interest in this truly grand traditional
weapon and that martial artists will seek out competent instructors of the Jo
or Bo to receive proper training. Bokken: The bokken
was a popular training sword because it was safe. Primarily used to practice
blocking & entering techniques. Knife: Many
people carry knives to protect themselves even though it is illegal in some
areas. Unfortunately, many who carry a knife for self-defense potentially
harm themselves more than they can protect their themselves. A knife is a
practical self-defense weapon only if the user is trained to fight with it.
An untrained knife fighter runs the risk of being stabbed with his own
weapon, making his situation worse than if he did not have a knife at all. Fan:
Coins: If
a situation comes up where you are forced to fight, throw some loose change
at the guys face, and then charge in with a hit. Is it unfair and downright dirty
fighting? ABSOLUTELY. But that’s what self-defense is all about. Save your
